Not sure if it’s just me but looking at the ends it appears to be stitched and constructed in a style similar to a portmanteau. If you zoom in close you can see the stitching and the ends seem to suggest a duffel bag type shape to my eye. I may be imagining it or it could just be folded and stitch...

Great idea! It would be very much part of the Dwarven "mindset" or conditioning, to care for important items taken on the road in this way. This would be what could have been used to achieve the desired results until one could fashion or procure something more permanent...like a portmante...

Mine are the "Medieval Boot" as I like the low heel they have. The biggest struggle I'm having is designing an upper that will bring them up to knee height and keep them "well fitted" as per the book. I really want to avoid any lacing system on these, maybe a couple of well place...
