Re: First Annual Ranger Photo Contest - 2009

I have a feeling that, if Born of Hope TRULY wanted to show Dunedain life as it was, there needed to be a short segment of man-talk around a campfire, similar to some of the Banter from Braveheart. "Three hundred heavy horse?!" "So what do we do?" "We hide. The highland way....

Re: New Big Clothing Project!

Alright, while I'm waiting for the camera to return, for those who are planning on doing this with me, I'm gonna write out a materials list so you can begin acquiring stuff now and (hopefully) work with me on it in "real time", more or less. 1) Thrift Store Leather Jacket Depends on person...

Re: First Annual Ranger Photo Contest - 2009

Pete, I remember you stating that when my contest was over, you were going to host a contest of your own, but never in all my years did I think it was gonna be THAT kind of contest...

In all seriousness...how about that contest, Pete? :D

Re: New Big Clothing Project!

Mike, glad to hear you're on board! That way, if this ends up somehow not working, and I do something incredibly stupid to ruin mine, we can wear hideous jackets TOGETHER!

Willrett, I'll see what I can put together.

Re: New Big Clothing Project!

Will it darken if left in the sun, like some other leather items I've got that've gone from reddish to brownish with use?

Re: Hey Panday.

Any chance you'd be willing to share some bits of that patina formula of yours with us? I've been wanting to make an axe like this for quite some time, and yours looks nothing short of excellent.

Re: New Big Clothing Project!

Looking good, Ken! I'm ripping off the buttons and putting eyelets all the way up the front so it laces together, and then when I do the same on the sides, I'll use that time to take it in a bit to make it fut my waist a bit more snugly (with all my layers on underneath, of course!) Your jacket look...

Re: New Big Clothing Project!

I've decided I hate the sleeves on my jacket with a burning passion. You want me to send them to you so you can make a quiver out of them? For that matter, let's make things more expedient...you want me to make you a quiver out of them?

Re: Photo Contest Winners Announced!

How about a 45# spine with 145 gr points? The heavier points will cause the arrows to flex more, allowing it to be shot out of a 35# for now, and then you can switch to 125 gr's later and the arrows'll shoot well out of a 45#. As far as the colors are concerned...you bascially described the material...

New Big Clothing Project!

Finances aren't working out too well for me, and with a wedding followed by married life looming in the distance, I had to cancel my order to Ravenswood leather for one of their jerkins. Thankfully they weren't very far into the project and were able to fully reimburse me *thank god*. It saddened me...

You make an extremely good point, my good sir.

I simply prefer not to bathe for excessive periods of time...wait...did I type that out loud?

Photo Contest Winners Announced!

First of all, thank you to everyone who participated in this first (of many, I hope) photo contest. It was a huge success and, despite the delaying of the due dates, went off virtually without a hitch. I learned some things about hosting a photo contest for future contests, as well as thoroughly enj...

Re: Cloaks

We DID make his cloak ourselves, but we DID fail to wash the fabric beforehand. That was probably the big mistake.

Sinai, do you know of any online sources for canvas weight linen?

Alright, the contest time is finally, after two months of delays, over. I will post the winners later this week.
