Re: Darksword Armory Norman sword rebuild (WIP)
I can guarantee there's no distal tapering on your sword. In fact it may have reverse distal tapering, starting out thin at the guard and getting progressively thicker towards the tip. The new swords (the last year or so) are starting to exhibit proper mass distribution but still have a way to go be...

Would you be so kind as to examine the old tang (what's left of it) for any markings and if you find some take a picture and send it to me?

Re: Sword Preference?
So....who made your messer? I especially like the guard. There's a lot going on there that the pictures isn't doing justice. By the way........ In pretty much every fight where a dagger or 'hawk is used in the off-hand, I take the off-hand first- usually literally... If you're ever in or very close ...

Re: Sword Preference?
I love that this thread is still garnering responses. There has been some fantastic discussion here, thanks guys! And mcapanelli: I saw a really interesting video somewhere showing a man with a sword just get owned by a guy with a spear in several different scenarios, and since then I've gained a b...

Re: Sword Preference?
I don't know if I have a favorite sword. I have a favorite aesthetic, but as a functional weapon a sword is just another tool in your kit. With that in mind I'd say it depends on the situation. If I were just out and about around a camp of near my home, a good sized knife and belt axe work fine. If ...

Re: New Sword
I don't know about this particular sword but they have gotten much better in general lately. Your starting to see proper mass distribution including distal tapering in their blades.Rifter wrote:How's the weight? I've heard Darksword is very heavy
By the way, Congrats in the new sword.

Re: Proposed sword build
Have a grinder to finish it up I think I might change up the pommel and with the new forge I might be able to make a guard but money will be the ultimate decision maker as I need money to buy the blades first :( Keep in mind when you order that blade that it isn't ground to final shape. Its close, ...

Re: Proposed sword build
Good move man. Be aware though that the blade isn't ground to its final shape and you'll need to do a good amount of grinding to get it right. I'd suggest contacting our own Odigan about setting the blade up to be mounted. Also the pommel looks very machined. Maybe save a little more and get a set f...

Re: One Sword... or Many?
To answer the OP, I think the answer depends on why your buying a sword in the first place. Trying to start a collection? Then your going to end up with more than one sword for sure. You'll most likely start with some cheap SLO's, move on to DSA and swear by them, and then arrive where almost all Eu...

Re: One Sword... or Many?
Now an albion would be nice but being 14 without a good job doesn't agree with the price as for the stainless steel blades they are free for me so I'm not complaining even if all I do with them is a wall hanger or a template nothing beats free. Actually you can have an Albion for about $500 if you ...
