It was more that it was the first at hand than it was particularly chosen.Taylor Steiner wrote:Well done! I knew a one hand blade would be your choice.

Re: Albion I.33 practice sword- what’s going on here?
That's the idea, yes, though the peens are much more substantial. Too thin and they'll deform or crack right off, so proper technique is required for this construction to be successful, making sure the peen is not worked cold nor left overly hard. Loss of some hardness in this area of the blade isn'...

It's part of a secondary step in the tang peened over the backside of the guard. All of Albion's Maestro line are constructed this way, to minimize loosening of the guard from repeated strikes.
Of the thousands of Maestros I've seen I don't recall any blades that failed at this junction.

Re: Summer 2020 available now!
I am curious about the traction with turnshoes. Through my reading of the forum, I've noticed that with turnshoes, people have issue with hills, grass, and other slick surfaces. With the traction noted in the issue, is there a special trick or way to get the soles a little less slippery? I've alway...

Re: The Garments of the Lake-men.
Outstanding stuff, and I really appreciate this as Lake Town is near to my heart as well. While I've no doubt you're much closer to the mark in terms of headgear, what I personally always saw in that image were 18th C. Grenadier mitres. Now, that may not make much contextual sense (or maybe I'm miss...

A fantastic time as always with absolutely perfect weather and great company.
Fun fact: the cumulative mileage for the four of us just to attend (not including return trips) was ~2,600 miles.

I'm also glad to see an interpretation based on the source material that challenges the now de rigueur portrayal established by the LOTR films.

So it's the bottom bottle first and then the top. I used the cap-squish method to stack them. Wow works good! Good luck!

Seems like this game has lost its momentum! Got any ideas to re-invigorate it, or has its time passed?

Re: Water Treatment on the Trail
A handful of activated or regular finely ground charcoal wrapped in clean cotton (new sport sock) will make a decent charcoal filter. If you're in the field use can use the charcoal from your fire. No gray ash just the blackened pieces of wood ground up with a rock will do pretty well in a pinch. S...

Re: Water Treatment on the Trail
Berkeys are nice, but their smallest model is still 4x14" and weighs three pounds empty. Something like that would be fine for a base camp, but it really falls outside the "Ranger ethos" on the trail, IMO. There are plenty of compact water purifiers that handle heavy metals, using act...
