Re: How to dress an Elf?

I disagree, no buttons and piped standing collars is probably the way i'd go! It feels very much too "high medieval, and takes away from the "timelessness" of the elves.

Re: How to dress an Elf?

I think Second and First age Elves would have more "fae" clothes, while the third age elves would wear more "Beowulfian" clothes.

Re: The Elves! The elves! What are we going to do with the Elves!

To be honest, my current thoughts is that i'm not good enough of an artist to depict them. Perhaps the mirkwood elves are decent, i was always the most satisfied with them. But for example my Rivendell suff is awful. But enough of that, i can line out my general thoughs of how Elves would have dress...

Really like it, the pill hat might be something inherited from the Dunedain.

Re: How to dress an Elf?

Really depends on what type of Elf, is it from Mirkwood, Lothlorien, Lindon or Rivendell? I really think one should look at a mix of ancient and early medieval clothes if one wants to do the Elves justice. One should also look at the natural world, and at the animals around us. https://images-wixmp-...

Yeah, same. The movies fit very well in their own "astethics" but do not fit my personal view of "Middle Earth".

Re: War Mattocks

I wonder if they had a vertical or horizontal "axe" head? The Vertical version wouls make quite a lot of sense, as you would have a batlleaxe and a pickaxe in one tool, good to fell both Orcs and Trees, and make roads/tunnels/forifications easily.

I have been doing Digital work! I am involved in a project called Ardacraft, which is building Middle Earth 1/10 its real scale ( the geographical size, that is) using Modded Minecraft. Have been co-project leader on a Rohirrim village by the Entwash.

Re: Dúnedain Hats?

Perhaps a Phyrgian cap or a Late Roman Pill-box hat would work the best, if one wanted to go with the Romano-British influenced Dunedain.

The Cloth of Trotters clothes

So, in the early drafts of The Fellowship of the ring, Aragorn's role is occupied by a hobbit known as Trotter, a brown-faced ranger with a rather long nose. He is described as wearing wooden shoes, and was dressed in a "Dark rough brown cloth". Trotter is of course still a ranger, and the...

Re: The cult of Narsil

On the topic of Seaxes, i have found very strong evidence that the Nothern Dunedain used them! In drafts of the Rotk Denenthors calls the barrow-blade of Pippin a Sax, made by the dunedain of the north. (Paraphrasing)
