This is a CD on Amazon, but you can hear samples from it. There are other places too.

Yes, a lament in fact. Which I figure would be common amongst them, although I'm sure they'd have their less melancholy tunes as well. One reason I think the NA flute works well, aside from its ethereal sound, it can be very haunting and suits laments very well. I have mine finally so am working har...

Makes sense, definitely. I have chosen to use a cross stitch that sort of butts the edges together...you sew them flat then work them out to the necessary positiion, which keeps it tight. Glue and saddle stitch the reinforcement strip over the seam, which can be done inside and out if one is really ...

That's a sharp looking pack, Pete. I can't make out the pattern well, but it looks to be something like 16 x 12 x 6 inches in dimensions, is that close to what it was? The one I'm working up is 16 x 13 x 6 with the seam edges outboard and covered with strips, rather like my Roman marching pack in so...

LOL Yes, and possibly even extinct! Yet at one time I had many hides of the Naugabeast and have some still. ;)

It would be nice since it'll act a bit more like leather when using it without actually chancing the destruction of really good leather.

I have some commercial boots that are okay...but only for temporary use I should think. I have some moc patterns which I have worked with, but I really like the boots on Andy's site...the ones with the buckles and of course his own. I've made caligae before so the sole patterns I have. I'm not sure ...

My composite bow needs shooting so I can get a better feel for it. I backpack and hike a lot so that part is fine. I grow and wild harvest some herbs (read weeds in wild harvesting), and I hunt to boot, so those skills are decent but as always could be improved upon some. Mostly for me its weapons t...

For myself, I've decided to have a go with an NA flute..far easier to carry about than even my travel harp, unless I were horse packing or something. Oregon Flutes has a good beginner's package it seems to me, so I may give them a try. I love the haunting sounds of these instruments and they strike ...

It does. When I referred to the images of Aragorn's knife in the movies, I noted that the false edge was pretty much the same as the back of the knife blade; flat and thick. I was originally going to duplicate this but...I couldn't resist 'making it better' as it were. What crafter doesn't get the u...

In general, composite bow, longknife and tomahawk...standoff and use of agility and speed work for me here.

Augmented with sword and/or spear at need, but really I prefer the above combination on the whole, as long as we're talking preferences.

Completely hand forged; I don't do stock removal. Couldn't even if I wanted to as I have no power tools of any sort. My entire forge is hand/foot driven. Polish is by file and sandpaper, and yep, that takes a lot of work. Which is why I try to get the blade as close to finished as possible via the f...

Early picture of the blade, before the grip and such were added. I'll see about current pics when I can.

Hi! I started learning when I was young...a rancher taught me a bit about farrier work. Later I picked up books and bought a forge..and kicked off. Much later I finally got around to taking Blacksmithing lessons; Blacksmithing, Blacksmithing II, Toolsmithing, etc. After that I took private instructi...

It could consist of a lot of laments, given the history. I agree it would probably have an elvish flavor to it. Harps, recorders, whistles, flutes, psalterys perhaps...all could be part of it. Native American flutes would be easy to take along and have a haunting sound to them although I'm not sure ...

Hair care

An idea for keeping the hair, and scalp of course, clean is baking soda. I use it anyway as a standard wash and have done so for a couple of years now. Entirely biodegradable and simple enough to do. Take a tablespoon or two of baking soda, mix with water into a creamy sort of paste, massage into sc...
