Thanks for the birthday wishes- it's been a busy few days since Friday.

As my birthday present, my wife went live with the website for my Dragons Wood Inn project:

www.dragonswoodinn.com

Please check it out to help it come to Google's search algorithm's attention.

I'm hoping to have the interior of the old house substantially converted by spring. Any Ranger interested in coming by to give a hand (or just to camp on the land), please let me know.

Yesterday, I was up the hill behind the Inn and heard a commotion a few yards ahead of me. A white-tail deer came bounding by, down the hollow, and up the next ridge, with two very large, very healthy-looking coyotes in hot pursuit. What a thrill!

Very cool - I like the illustration!

How is the interior coming along? Have you had any chance to work on it at all this season?

I got a lot of the area around the house cleaned up- there was a lot of junk, old wire fences, etc.

One of the rooms is full of old barn wood. I'm going to tear out the chipboard ceiling of the main room and go for a more open ceiling in there. What I really need to move forward is another set of hands, before I can start cladding the inner walls.

I need to put a 'progress' section on the website. As I mentioned on the Facebook page, we were going to have a pond dug, but it appears that there is, in fact, a natural spring up the valley, with the result that when the water comes out of the shale shelf into the area of gravel and dirt, it creates, in essence, an underground creek about 8 feet down. So any pond dug would collapse and silt in very quickly. We did get some trees knocked out of the way and set aside for fire wood. The open area will be graded and have some swales cut in the spring, so that we'll have a nice field for camping and/or LARP fighting.

Shoot!

I see your request for aid just weeks after I donated my brother's childhood garb and trinkets elsewhere. Dang, there were some nice pieces in there that might have worked well. :(

I am trying to clear out the craft room though, and have a pile of "donate to a good cause" stuff:
http://budgetauthenticity.org/ranger/fo ... f=2&t=3145

Would that be of use? (I can imagine as well that with all the work of bringing the inn up to speed, the last thing you want is more projects/materials on your hands though)

I'm sure someone would make use of anything donated. Thanks.
