Hello

Post by Ohtarvarno »

Just wanted to use my first post to say hello to everyone.

I'm based in the UK and I've been interested in Tolkien's work for over 30 years now. That interest has led me into a career as a Ranger and nature conservation management and developed an interest in tracking and wilderness skills.

Hopefully I'll be able to play an active part in this site and share my experiences and knowledge of Rangering as time goes by.

Welcome!

Roaming British forests for a living? Such a very Rangery life to have crafted - how very cool!
I can't wait to hear what sort of woodland adventures you've had. :)

Welcome to the group.
Still round the corner there may wait a new road or a secret gate and though I oft have passed them by a day will come at last when I shall take the hidden paths that run west of the moon, east of the sun.

Welcome Ohtarvarno! Looking forward to hearing more of you.
Is there a story behind your name, brother?

Not sure on the -varno part, but Ohtar (glossed "warrior, soldier") "was the title of all who, though fully trained and experienced, had not yet been admitted to the rank of roquen, "knight." (Unfinished Tales: Disaster of the Gladden Fields, Note 17).

Welcome!

Hi E MacKermak, Kortoso and Udwin. Thank you for your welcome.

My name is an elvish translation (if I've got it right) of the Gaelic translation of my English name.......

Mae govannen, friend. You've found a great community here, and it sounds like you'll fit in fantastically.
