Very interesting answer, Pete, and it fits the riddle nicely. But not the one I was looking for, unfortunately. This one is Tolkien-based.Peter Remling wrote:Smoke ?

Re: The Riddle Game
And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.

Sounds like the moon to me.Ernildhir wrote:Ever and ever upwards I climb,

The conflict seemed a timeless time,
Until at last me they slew.
Though if it is Tolkien based, perhaps it has to do with Gandalf and the Balrog?
I am Ringulf the Dwarven Woodsman, I craft leather, wood, metal, and clay,
I throw axes, seaxes, and pointy sticks, And I fire my bow through the day.
Come be my ally, lift up your mead! We'll search out our foes and the Eagles we'll feed!

Another fitting answer, but not what I had in mind.Ringulf wrote:Sounds like the moon to me.Ernildhir wrote:Ever and ever upwards I climb,

Correct. The Endless Stair was ruined in the duel between Gandalf and Durin's Bane.Erucheb wrote:The Endless Stair.

Re: The Riddle Game
I guess I'll have a go, then.
The master craftsman marvelled and craved
The streams of silver spun with gold
That freely fall 'round my face like the waves
of Belegaer, the bastion that bars my path
And holds me here, though my home is the West.
Who am I?

Beleager is the middle earth's sea so is it the sunset that falls into the sea?
...I am Ranger, my Lord...
Re: The Riddle Game
My guess is Galadriel.
And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.
Re: The Riddle Game
Correct!
The "master craftsman" refers to Feanor, who wanted to enshrine some of Galadriel's locks because he was infatuated with her hair, which he thought captured the light of the Two Trees. To his disgrace, she refused. In some accounts, the blent light caught in her hair inspired him to make the silmarils.
Imagine how infuriated he would have been had he learned that, centuries later, she actually did give her locks to another craftsman -- and a dwarf, no less!

So what you're saying is "size matters".Ringulf wrote:Hey we often have that effect on women...just sayin!

What most folks don't understand is that that phrase has three dimensions!
Dwarves appreciate Hight, Width and Girth!
