Old Grey-beard!

Post by Mirimaran »

Hail Rangers,

Just a little something about the Yule traditions of the Hobbits of the Shire.. Sound familiar? hmmmm....lol
Merry Christmas!

Mirimaran and Morielda
------------------------------------------------------------
Old Grey-Beard

When the last of Autumn goes
and the cold North wind blows
riding on the Winter snows
comes a man we all know!

Long grey beard, Pointy Hat
never feared, show'd the welcome mat!
comes down chimney and through round'd door
we all know who we're waiting for!

Old Grey-beard, bring us treats
that hobbit children love to eat
and toys from far and wide
with even MORE treats inside!

No door or lock is barred to him
they all open to his whim
across the Shire in a single night
Goes Grey-beard, on his joyous flight!

Like a man he may look
certainly not a Baggins or Took!
His dull colours he'd gladly sheds
For elvish robes of festive red.

Listen for his ride on Yule's eve
and through his laughter you'll perceive
That his name is widely known
as his generosity is widely shown!

Old Grey-beard! We await your night!
As Yule draws near with Tookish delight!
Come dance with us on Yuletide's day!
Old Grey-beard! Hurrah, hip, and hurray!

Mirimaran
"Well, what are you waiting for? I am an old man, and have no time for your falter! Come at me, if you will, for I do not sing songs of dastards!"

Fine work! My kids loved it. I like being able to read what is on the site to the kids.

Bravo. There certainly isn't a door that would deny him entry, be it by power through his staff, or with a pile of dwarves to knock it down...
Now the sword shall come from under the cloak.
