Forandiri proto-Moot

Post by Eledhwen »

Wish us luck, friends. Across the Equinox weekend in September the Forandiri will have their first ever Moot. A small event it will be; space is limited and our Ranger Sister has graciously allowed to use her property for the purpose. We are not unwelcoming, however given the small size of this one, few will be able to go. Few as in maybe ten or so at most. Five of those are Forandiri. One of the main purposes of this event is to plan for one next year, with a larger venue that can accommodate a range of activities.

This one will have archery, or so we plan. Also some Harper activity. I'm likely to bring out one or two of the compositions I have been working on. Evening fire, stories, music, song perhaps. Food and friendship. That's the point.

So, yes, wish us luck. We hope to have a bigger and better one next year. Valar willing.

We held our Moot this past weekend. There were six of us. Mostly we were looking ahead to a much larger venue next year. There was some archery, although I didn't shoot beyond a couple of whistler shots, due to a pulled muscle in the back.

We used our 14'6" round pavilion, although by the big one next year we'll have a modified Baker tent that I call my Ranger tent. Friends used a cone tent and a wall tent.

We had a lovely fire and awesome food. Jannat brought rice and an Easterling dish called Green Curry, as well as Roast Fowl and a bread slathered with butter, tasting of onions and stuffed with cheese. Lindyrnedil provided nut-flour biscuits, pork coated hard-boiled eggs (scotch eggs), and some mead. Gawain provided a very good red wine. In the morning, coffee was made by Gawain, and an excellent breakfast of eggs and crispy bacon were made by Lindyrnedil and Linrandir. We Forandiri eat very well, we do indeed. :)

The tents in the meadow. The wind-wall was to help with privacy as the road runs right along this edge.

Good wine, indeed!

Lindyrnedil has a good set of photos from the weekend. She may, or may not, choose to post them here.

Gimli: It's true you don't see many Dwarf-women. And in fact, they are so alike in voice and appearance, that they are often mistaken for Dwarf-men.
Aragorn: It's the beards.
