way off topic sword.....

Post by Andy* »

Can anyone here point me the direction of a good non- bs book...or site that has information on Japanese swords and their care and feeding...so to speak.
Went to a gun and knife show this weekend and traded for what I was told was a old Japanese sword blade in military mountings.....would be nice to know just what I got...the real thing....a replica..or a piece of trash.
Thanks,
Andy

Check out both SFI and SBG, Sword Forum International and Sword Buyers Guide. Both have forums on Japanese swords. They are not the "know all, end all" but they will give you a good start.

I throw in my endorsement for the sites Pete recommended.

Yep..those are excellent sites.
Found out my sword is a new made replica....folded blade....Japanese markings....aging....all are there....the good thing is that it is a functional sword....the better thng is that I did not get much into the sword....
