Kaelin, yes...it would mean 5-10 just for the mold and he hasn't gotten back to me on the per piece cost.

I am working a couple of other angles as well. I'll keep you all updated.

Casting them in brass/bronze would be about $6 each piece, plus some for silver plating. Casting in sterling silver will be about $50 each piece. And still got to cover set up.

I am still waiting on word from a few other folks, but this is the guy who answered first. I think I might be able to get them cheaper.

Bronze is better if you mean to plate them. I can plate my own as I have my own electro plating kit. Bronze is also not cheap, neither is brass but it is cheaper than bronze.

Sterling silver is not as strong as bronze is although it is prettier.

I prefer bronze myself but as I say, price is the dictating factor in my getting some of them. I'd have to get three as my son and my gal would give me what for if I didn't get them one each.

Just to throw a wrinkle into the mix, I modified my original design slightly. Fewer facets, it might be a little less expensive to produce. . .

The size shown here is 1.8 in. square, so approx. the size we've been talking about making it.

I agree with Kaelln. Love it. I think the size is perfect, too.

I like it better too! It looks more like a brooch or pin.

I like this one better as well, I couldn't figure out what was throwing me off on the original design until I took the middle facets out.

Here is the response I got from the second guy:

Set Up: $40.
Mold: $15.
Per Piece $20.
Your Choice Bronze or Stainless Steel, pin-back or pendant.
No payment until ready to ship.

He can do either the first or second design.

Wow, not bad IMO! I'd go for the Stainless version myself.

I'd go bronze because I can plate it with actual silver. I prefer the actual 'precious' metals to stainless steel.

Wow, cool! I'd go either way but would love to see a pic when the prototype is done!
