Second pouch
Sadly, I didn't remember to get pictures of it in progress again, so we only have a finished project. But, it's a pouch put together from scraps left from another project, still out of that same hide I purchased over a year ago now. I'm rather pleased with the quality of the leather, and had I the funds, I would've purchased two hides at the price I paid.
but enough talk, on to the pictures.
this is the front of the pouch, with the same style of toggle closure as I used previously.
and this is the interior of the pouch, with the flash on so the volume of the pouch is easily visible.
it has two loops on the sides, where I'm planning to attach a strap of linen so that it can be carried more like a messenger style bag.

Cool closure system! It looks like it can hold quite a bit!
Don't knock yourself for not taking progress photos. I forget this constantly.

Re: Second pouch
it actually can hold a fair bit, I think I'm going to use it as a foraging bag or something similar, I just need to make a linen strap for it, as I feel that would be a bit more comfortable for carry. once my lady fair returns from her stay in Ireland, she and I will be doing this together, so I'm trying to make up pieces of kit for her as well, which is what this pouch is. but shhh...she doesn't know yet. though, I'm sure she will once she joins the forum.

Good work, like the square shape

A grand start!
Your stitching looks great on this one!
Can't wait to see how the strap works out.

Re: Second pouch
there are spots where I misjudged the length of thread needed and had to splice in more which would be visible if I got closer pictures of the actual sewing, but I didn't do that since I figured the appearance of the thing is what we're all looking for, it looks like someone put it together in their down time during a bad storm or over a few weeks of scouting. which I'm totally ok with, since that's pretty much the kind of look I want for things I make, for them to be well made but rustic I suppose would be the proper term.

Most of my projects have breaks in the thread. That's just part of life!

Very nice. What kind of leather is that?

I almost got some of that last summer when it was on special. Just couldn't swing it at the time.
I look a lot harder at their fliers now, since they give their elite club pricing to vets.

Re: Second pouch
another site you might take a look at is www.springfieldleather.com they have excellent prices, and will cut most of their leather to size for you. not a shabby service, honestly.
Re: Second pouch
Well done. It looks very well made.
