New Pouch

Post by theowl »

I liked the design I did for the pouch I made Taylor so much that I made it a standard offering on my website, and I made a slightly modified version for myself. I made mine out of dark brown bison with a button I carved out of some cocobolo scrap. The design on the flap is something I cobbled together out of a few different designs from here, Tolkien sketches, and stuff I thought flowed well.

Thanks! I've been toying with the design for a while. I think this is the 8 or 9th draft, but I'm very happy with this version.

Nice work, beautiful tooling :P
Gimli: It's true you don't see many Dwarf-women. And in fact, they are so alike in voice and appearance, that they are often mistaken for Dwarf-men.
Aragorn: It's the beards.

Yeah, I absolutely love this. On Instagram I believe you said you used a 5-ounce buffalo leather from Hide House, right? I'm surprised that it worked so well with a 5-ounce leather! Seems a little heavier than I would probably have thought to use for a pouch like this. It turned out just beautifully though!

It's relatively thick but still flexible. So it's easy to get it into the shape you want and supple enough to work well as a pouch, but overall it keeps it's shape. I'm a big fan of this leather, I recently redid my shoulder bag and it's my favorite bag so far.
