Not Perfect, But Getting There...

Post by HuerTa »

Hi everyone, while it's not 100% complete I thought I'd post some shots of my kit as of now. I'm pretty happy with it so far, and mainly just need to work on getting a bedroll/snapsack combo set up. I'll probably be drawing heavily from Elleth and Ursus' work as I love the look and how ergonomic it looks to carry. As always, any tips or constructive feedback is appreciated, hope y'all like it! And please don't mind my killer attack hound in the pics, Huan ;)

Nice work! Am I wrong or is that an Angus Trim XVIa.3? Lovely piece that.

May I ask about your bow? I'm not recognizing it from any of the usual suspects...care to divulge some details?

...and is that one of the Ritter Steel knives mounted on your scabbard?
Now the sword shall come from under the cloak.

Thank you! Your eyes do not deceive you, that is an ATrim XVIa.3. Her name is Belegrist and she is my pride and joy.

Sure, the bow is the Ranger Bow from Rudder Bows. 50-55# @28". I wanna saw it's hickory? I can't recall. It's a stout bow, I've had it for about 5 years now and it still shoots quite well. I do believe that Rudder Bows sold out to Crow's Head Archery though, but they still carry a lot of similar models.

And yes, that is a Ritter Steel boot knife on the scabbard. They tend to be my go to knives when including a by-knife on a scabbard.

Thank you! That jerkin has been a labor of love over the last three years. I've slowly added, changed, cut, shaped, sewn, etc different bits of it over time. It's got a bit of a patchwork look to it now but I think it works really well for a Ranger persona doing repairs and what-have-you as needed and materials become available. And yes, Huan (his real name is Ricky hehe) is a firece and loyal companion!

Here are some closer pics of the jerkin:

Looks great. If I may ask what pattern did you use for the jerkin or was it more of a figure it out as you go thing?

Thank you! It's a little of both, actually. The main part I cut using an old vest of mine as a primary pattern and added a little bit of length to it. The rest of the bits were a bit if figuring out as I went in order to make it look more like a jerkin and less like a vest.
