Dwarven Baldric and Belt

A dwarf themed baldric and belt I made for Bumr Blackbrand. It has a few more hard lines than my normal style baldric, with etched knotwork and forged buckles that he tracked down. The sword and knife in the baldric are not the ones he was planning on using them with, but they were the most appropriate ones I had on hand for photos.

I'm particularly fond of the belt...it's right on the money for a dwarf. The buckle has a similar feel to the West Door of Moria.

it all came together based on the buckle. He wanted a wide belt, but the buckle was only 1.5", so we did the weave style so it can be a 3" belt all together, or a 1.5" belt if he separates them.

Cool!

The pattern is very nicely rendered - I assume that's the laser machine you've talked about?
I assume you do the design yourself in some kind of vector package?

I'm curious about where the strap is riveted to the "panel" holding the scabbard. Is that rivet to allow for kind of freedom of rotation in the pieces?

Yep, it's all lasered on. It's the best way to ensure dwarven precision. We found a knotwork design he liked and modified and expanded it to make it fit the shapes that the baldric took.

The strap and frog are actually all one piece. I usually rivet them together on baldrics, but there are a lot more historical examples of single piece baldrics, so I've been experimenting with switching designs over and I like the way it works a lot.
