Oh, the Mirkwood quivers are certainly pretty, I've no dispute.
Anyhow, for a Dunedain waist quiver, I'd be inclined to look towards the Hedeby quiver Kortoso has mentioned. (Great writeup of a replica at the Leather Working Reverend's fantastic site here) If you want to Middle-earthify it some with some WETA work, I bet you could adapt the bands of their Horn of Gondor to the neck of the quiver pretty easily.
With a collar like that done in metal, it could look quite regal. Inscribed into the leather, I bet it'd look primitive enough to not draw notice in the Pony, but "Middle-earthy" enough to feel right, if you take my meaning.
