I just received notice that our own Mike Capanelli won the Valiant Armoury sword contest. Mike will be receiving one of the new Gus Trim/ Christian Fletcher designed Castille swords.

Someone's going to have a Merry Christmas !

Thanks Pete. Next time your in town your welcome to cut with her. After running through some drills and a little cutting I can say that at the price point I would whole heartedly recommend her. She's blade heavy but not overly so for a type X. That's about the only complaint I have. You'll appreciate the scabbard work in person too.

Sweet. That's quite the Christmas surprise. I could not find any announcement info on the site, so was it a base or signature model?
How did the cutting go? What did you use?

I hadn't heard about this contest...was it a random drawing, or was there some sort of swordmaking/design element involved?

If the latter is true, is there a link to a page where the contest results can be viewed? Perhaps a link to a page where the submissions could be viewed as well? Pardon my lack of being informed...

Hey, found the contest announcement on MyArmoury. All the more reason to be more alert on these boards. I don't know how I missed it both on the MyArmoury AND the Sword Forum. I gotta pay more attention.
