In a recent pm, Mike questioned whether or not Middle Earth had hearing aids. I found an old reference that has been overlooked so here goes:

The Furrowed brow was the icing on the cake...makes you look like the grumpy man next door.

Awesome. I'll keep that in mind when I pass up the "ungrateful whippersnapper" stage I'm apparently in.

At least I know I'm in the right place, so when I get to that stage, when I'm waving a gnarled staff rather than a cane at my neighbor's kids, I'll know I've learned from those who went before me.

Pete...what kind of instrument mouthpiece is that?

I'm a trumpet player...I have like ten spares lying around. But they're too big to be putting onto a horn. I've looked around at some low-end french horn mouthpieces, but nothing seems to tickle my fancy. A few vintage cornet/piccolo trumpet mouthpieces I've seen might fit the bill, but I haven't settled yet. What'd you use on yours? It doesn't look like anything I'm familiar with...

This one actually came with the mouth piece. It was sold as a blowing horn. I picked up 2 other mouthpieces several years ago but they had to be cut down with a hacksaw to fit. I don't remember what they were but I'll see if I can find similar and post back.

At least one of them was a trombone mouthpiece. You will have to cut down the shank a bit. Once inserted into the horn it will look perfect.

When I bought them about 4 years ago they were only between 4-7 dollars. I still have one laying around somewhere but I have no clue as to where. Now I see they are going for about twice that price.

A trombome mouthpiece? It MUST have been mismarked...T-Bone mouthpieces start at ~1.5" in diameter...they're HUGE. And they haven't just doubled...$7 for a mouthpiece means someone ran over it with a car nowadays. $50+ for a low-end.

Trumpet mouthpieces are the approximate right size, but the shank is too wide.

I think I've got it covered now; I found an old beaten up cornet mouthpiece that looks medieval enough. Thanks for the effort, anyway!
