Like most here, I'm not going to be in Oxford any time soon. However, I am going to get a copy of the exhibit catalog, which has things like color reproductions of the first map of the Shire, etc.

Oh.... that does look interesting!

Seems there's a lot of really intriguing things coming out from the archives lately: am I just only paying attention lately, or has the pace picked up a bit?

I think the pace has picked up.

I ordered the catalog today. $75 with taxes and shipping. Whew.

I got the catalog book yesterday. It's a beauty, with high resolution reproductions of letters, maps, and drawings on card-stock paper pages.

One thing that surprised me are reproductions of newspaper pages that Tolkien doodled on with colored pens. Very psychedelic.

The book, shipping, and handling are rather pricey ($75 in total), but it's full of great photos and illustrations.
