WOW, Amazing photo's :P
Gimli: It's true you don't see many Dwarf-women. And in fact, they are so alike in voice and appearance, that they are often mistaken for Dwarf-men.
Aragorn: It's the beards.

Yes, in about two weeks. It has already opened in the eastern half of the commonwealth...they are experimenting with an extended archery season there. Might even allow crossbows next year.

Ta-rahn! Ta-rahn! Ta-rahn!

I probably ought to get some video of using the horn...it has a nice, deep, carrying, tone.

How fun!

I notice that little boot on your bow - and resting the end on your foot!
I confess I've much worse habits in that regard and am constantly sticking the end of my bow in the dirt. Are you more protecting the bowtip, or the string?
If you draw the bow with the boot in place, does it just fall off?

Also that horn looks SO FUN. I need to make one someday. :)

Elleth: The little leather boot keeps the string and stringer from sagging while the bow is unstrung. It is removed when the bow is strung, stringer and boot being stored in the archer's pouch on my belt. Just a pouch for archery stuff...taper tool for broken shafts, some glue in hard form, replacement string, spare points, sharpening files, that sort of thing.

The boot also protects the horn nock and string, as does resting it on my foot. These things take a fair time to make and get right so I tend to take care of them...some might think excessively so.

That particular horn was a gift to me from back in the middle 80s. It has a deep tone to it, very penetrating....even so, I can get three distinct notes from it. I have a larger one, although I haven't sorted it for use yet. As a huntress I can sound the chase and the morte using the horn. I practiced the calls for a while. ;) The former is self-explanatory, the latter is respect for the game and the chase and to notify others of a successful hunt. Respect for the game is something I do regardless, in thanking the animal's spirit gift.

It is a simple outfit, suitable for a yeoman of some kind, or yeo-woman. ;) I'm making additions and improvements for the Winter...wool over tunics, hooded mantles of orange for the gun season, a nice padded wool and linen jupon...orange again, and a gambeson as well, to give me a good variety of things to choose from.

More photos will come as the season goes on, I have no doubt. Like as not video clips on my YouTube or Imgur pages.
