Hehe, this drawing made by Merlkir (lead artist on the Last days of the third age) has convinced me vanbraces are cool. (I later realised tjose are probably out of metal and not leather...)

Not so good for ventilation though. It's always something. :)
I agree there, that's why I use them most times I go out in kit, just not in the heat, in the winter they seem to do a good job of keeping the heat in, rain/snow/wind out and brambles off to, and I won't deny having worn them with modern hiking stuff to

I’ve ditched true bracers in favor of a single on the left arm for archery purposes. Shooting in the woods rarely gives the opportunity for perfect form, and shorter bows with shorter brace heights tend to hit the actual wrist/back of the thumb, regardless of form.

I think they have a lot of function in them, but my system for keeping warm and donning/shedding layers in the field just doesn’t leave room for a pair.

You have a fun and interesting style that would lend itself well to book illustration among other genres. Keep it up! I, like you, enjoy drawing Dwarves and Hobbits most of all. I have even done quite a few sculptures of them...something I need to get back to doing as soon as I can! Keep it up you are doing it! Make sure you do a little bit each day/week/month to keep your hand in it!

Other ranger, quite elaborate clothing, influenced by romano-british clothes.

....iiiinteresting.

The vertical bands on the surcote especially is real food for thought.
(I think that's a Roman thing that descends from purple-striped togas and has connotations of social rank, but I'm not certain about that. Eledwhen might know?)

Hrmmmmm.

Its quite decorated, so it might be the clothes of a higher rank Dunedain, with the bands being artifacts from older Arnorian clothing. They might actually be from that time, just sewn onto more modern jerkins. Or they could have been made in rivendell, and gifted to the rangers by Elrond.
I actually imagine rivendell making some of the rangers clothing, such as Aragorns boots (which are bigger versions of the ones Bilbo got in rivendell). That is pure speculation tho, no textual evindence behind it.

Other Dunedain, this one is probably home at the villa (i imagine the Dunedain in the angle having small roman-style villas, repaired and maintained by salvaging ruins or replacing the bricks with timber. You can see hobbit imitations of them in hobbiton.)

This one is also influenced by romano-british clothing, with Numenorean patterns.

That is *really* interesting food for thought.

I'd never thought much about Romano-British as a touchstone for Dunedain, but it obviously makes a lot of sense. Thank you!

They just seem like such a natural inspiration of the Dunedain.

A few from time to time, a while back I posted one of my Ringulf Avatars for a Middle Earth Fourth Age Pathfinder game, I will have to go find that one and put it up. I was also thinking of doing some portraits that I could use as a reference for some sculptures.
