Been A While...

Post by Manveruon »

Hi all...

So yeah, it's been a bit since I've graced the boards with my presence. Nearly two years, actually. That's not to say, however, that I haven't been active in terms of Ranger activities - but I would be lying if I said I have been as active as I would have liked over the last couple years, and that's definitely something I am hoping to change in the coming months (fingers crossed, and no promises! ). Long story short, I'm just not really near a desktop computer very often anymore, and I have become increasingly dependent on social media (mostly Facebook and Instagram) to keep up-to-date with my online life. PhPBB boards like this one aren't particularly well suited to mobile browsing and posting, and as such I am afraid I have simply drifted away.
Luckily, a number of the more active members on here are also connected with me on Facebook (Greg, Austin, Elliot, Pete, Ken, and so forth), so I have been able to keep up, at least a little bit, with them on there, and in the Facebook MERF group. Unfortunately one person I have never been able to track down there is Elleth, and I miss her wonderful posts here terribly. Indeed, it was a desire to look up some of her older threads that led me to finally log back in.

But at any rate, hello again! And I'm hoping to try and actually keep up somewhat on the boards again in future (fingers crossed).

HOWEVER - I could really use some help, if you all wouldn't mind. See, a big part of the reason I have avoided logging back in here for so long is because I now have missed SO MANY excellent threads that there's just no way I could possibly catch up on all the stuff I've missed - and being a bit of a detail-obsessed completist, I've been stressing over the fact that if I wanted to genuinely catch up, I would probably have to sit my butt down at the computer for a good couple of weeks straight. SO - here is what I'm hoping you all can help with:

If you have any threads from the last, say, 3 years or so that you think are PARTICULARLY important, or that you would especially recommend reading through, would you post links to them here for me? This way I can kind of catch back up on the Cliff's Notes version of what I've missed around the forums, and hopefully be able to move forward from there without feeling like I've lagged horribly behind the rest of the community.

Anyway, if you all wouldn't mind, that would help me out a TON, and hopefully then I can start popping in here a little more on the regular.

Cheers!

Welcome back :P

I'll try to have a think about useful threads
Gimli: It's true you don't see many Dwarf-women. And in fact, they are so alike in voice and appearance, that they are often mistaken for Dwarf-men.
Aragorn: It's the beards.

I think the best threads over the last couple of years have been:

Why didn't they use the Eagles to fly the Ring to Mt. Doom?

Is Tauriel in the movies as good a character as Tauriel in the book?

Can a Hobbit Ranger still manage seven or eight meals a day?

Thanks for the warm welcome back, everyone! I will begin perusing the linked threads right away! Incidentally, my apologies for any necro-posting that may happen as a result XD
