With my slow internet connection, it said it would take over 1000 hours to download.

So I guess I'll have to stay with Runescape for the time being.

That's right. Now all of you must start playing it.

I play on the Arkenstone server if any of you would ever like to join me. ;)

I rarely play weekdays -- most usually only Sat/Sun. If you do create a character on Arkenstone, though, just let me know what you've named him, and I'll keep an eye out for you.

I used to play Runescape back in high school...about seven years ago, before there was a members-only area, before there were different kinds of pickaxes, before the characters more than vaguely resembled humans, before there were different kinds of pants available, and before sleeping bags.

Now, I think I might not be able to bring myself to play at all since all the cool stuff is in the member's area. They have a FALCONRY corner, for crying out loud...in the member's area, dag nabbit!

A membership is less than 7 bucks. (Gestures suggestively toward the Runescape site).

Well, if you do decide to go back over there let me know. Ebernath is my member account. I have a nonmember account named Pdmnt Ranger. I don't play that one very often though.

Back to the LOTRO site. I wonder if you can still buy the disk and download it from there. I could probably do that a lot quicker than tieing my computer up for a week or two trying to download it online.

http://www.amazon.com/Lord-Rings-Shadow ... 077&sr=8-1

You can get the original boxed Shadows of Angmar for $2.86 on Amazon. Of course, you'd still need to spend quite a bit of time downloading every content update that has been released since the game launched...

http://www.amazon.com/Lord-Rings-Online ... 854&sr=8-3

Getting the Mines of Moria boxed set will save you a bit of download time, I expect, but it's also ~$7 more.

If I were you, I would get the Mines of Moria Collector's Edition.

http://www.amazon.com/Lord-Rings-Mines- ... 854&sr=8-1

I wouldn't pay the $30, but select one of the "16 new from $7.93 3 used from $4.98" options. This way, you not only get the game and save download time, but you get a replica of The One Ring on a chain, a cloth map of Moria, a soundtrack, and maybe some other items I don't remember. :p It's been a while since that was released.

Glad to have you on the Ark, Willrett! :D

Four plus hours of download isn't worth the effort for me.

Baah, 6+ hours of download time. It'd take too much on my computer anyways.
At least until I get my external hard drive.

If I had internet at home, I might consider getting this. Alas, I do not, and I don't want to lose large chunks of my life that I could spend practicing WMA, building a forge, or doing other things. I've spent lots of time on MMORPG's before, and they're incredibly fun, but I don't know if it's in the cards for me.

Eric, I had no idea it was that cheap! Back in the day, it used to be ~10 bucks a MONTH.

And now, I'm using this smiley I stole from another forum, just because it's cool.

The one on the left is blatantly broadcasting that thrust, though...it'd take a miracle for the one on the right to not see that coming.
