OHMYGOSHTHISISAWESOME!!!

Greg, I've been looking forward to seeing what you were alluding to with that cloak for MONTHS now - what wonderful simplicity!
Did you piece your cloak Bockston-style? Or just use a large piece? About knee length/half circle fullness? And might I ask about how far down the seam in front goes? Just a couple inches to close things up, or all the way over your shoulder and down a bit?

Caedmon, I like the idea of wooden lasts. I don't know if I have that much patience, but it does seem a wiser idea.
My (vague) memory is that a lot of medieval sheaths were two layers of thinner leather - I wonder if the same would be true in our context? Not that I'm inclined to remake anything.

Udwin, I love the animal references! So fun!
Can I convince myself to turn down the heat? Hrmm... let's not get crazy now. :)

Odigan - oh my gosh that's gorgeous work!

This is the best issue so far. Congratulations one and all. Your efforts are appreciated.

Regrettably, my cloak and hood are not finished. The wool for that project arrives ... tomorrow. *grumble* Long story. Got back-ordered, shipped just barely in time, and then the "Address label fell off" in New York and delayed it three days. That photo is a not-quite-perfect mock-up using my old cloak. When the real thing is finished (in REAL dark grey) I'll post a write-up. The plan for the shoulder seam is to line up about with the edges of my jerkin/surcote...maybe a smidge narrower. Weight distribution for the win.

Only been able to skim over it quickly so far (I'll have give it a good long read later) but it looks great!

I note that you mention Wim Hof. Have you practiced his "iceman" method?

A cursory first-time look at that link suggests to me that this is one particular feller who is...shall we say...a bit extreme?

To a certain extent. I usually shower at a lower temperature, ending cold, but the peculiarities of my home's plumbing mean I can't just hop in for a cool shower at short notice. So I've mostly focused on his breathing exercises, usually before and after a workout.

Is there another place to get this issue? The link appears to be broken.
