Made a Red Oak Long Bow

Howdy folks, been a while since I posted in this section. So, this is my latest project; a long bow I made out of piece if red oak. First, here's a shot of the layout.

After it's all said and done, it's 40# @ a 28" draw. I did an ebony stain on it and a coat of polishing wax.

You know, I wish Google and Youtube were around when I was Teen. Back then I had to go to the Library and wade through the dewy decimal system to find "How To" books and tutorials.

very nice bow!! Is that a board bow, or did you make a stave?

This is a board bow. I searched through a stack of boards at Lowes Hardware to find a board with the right grain.

I may have to attempt again, i tried a board bow one time and it snapped in the tillering process :(

Really, really good-looking bow. Great idea for choosing wood also.
