The Jewel Game

Post by Kortoso »

This tale was told by Rudyard Kipling in his Kim, and adapted and repeated by Lord Baden-Powell for Scouting purposes. I've also seen it in an Ashida Kim book on ninjutsu. Time for us to steal it as well.

The Jewel game
The Master Ranger collects on a tray a number of articles - knives, spoons, pencil, pen, stones, book and so on - not more than about fifteen for the first few games, and cover the whole over with a cloth. He then makes the others sit round, where they can see the tray, and uncovers it for one minute. Then each of them must make a list on a piece of paper of all the articles he can remember. The one who remembers most wins the game.
There are no safe paths in this part of the world. Remember you are over the Edge of the Wild now, and in for all sorts of fun wherever you go.

We used to this all the time in scouts. Sometimes we would also have everyone stand in one place and look at say,,the camp. Then everyone would turn around,,something would get changed and everyone would turn back around. Whomever noticed the change fastest won.
