Adûni/Westron resources?

Post by caedmon »

So I've been thinking that it might be better for non-Elvish derived Ranger stuff to have Adûni inscriptions rather than Sindarin ones. It seems that there is very little Westron out there.

Anyone have resources for translations into Adûni?

I found a word list. It looks pretty limited.

This makes the third Westron wordlist I've thus come across, and they're all different. Unfortunately, Tolkien worked significantly less on this language compared to his others.

here's the first one I've used: http://folk.uib.no/hnohf/westron.htm
and here's another: http://realelvish.net/westron.php

Straelbora, do you have a source for that link? At first, it just seemed 'off' to me--it's missing pretty much all the name-elements for familiar characters but at the same time has far more entries than the other wordlists, with an emphasis on Numenorean and Valinorean names, and has at least one typo I noticed ('borderland' is brand, not brad)--which makes me wary of more...BUT:
bearing in mind that the Professor worked on three different versions of the Common tongue, I believe the one you linked is in fact an earlier, disused version--'d-Adunaic'. So take it with a grain of salt and approach at arms-length.

Master Tolkien never completed the language of Westernesse. Sadly. There are several lists of words supposedly derived from it, but there really isn't enough for extended use.

No source- just poking around on the internet.
