we have a version of the same rhyme here, substitute Shepard for traveler
I originally heard this as: "Red sky in Morning, Sailor take warning. Red sky at night, Sailor's delight."

Being the son of a 10-year Navy man, that's the way I heard it.

Some serious ones
When the clouds go green, the weather gets mean
When the clouds get blue, there's going to be a wet you
Cotton is crap, but wool is good for a wrap
Keep your bow dry, or your arrows won't fly
When you want to be found, go up the ground. When you want to drown, go on down.
All eggs are good to eat, and I've heard that the chickies make a nice treat

And not so serious
Flint and quarts make good sparks, but if you hit your fingers it'll leave some marks
If you don't eat dinner, you'll eventually get thinner
Orcs don't use forks
Fighting a ranger is quite the danger
If you let your sword rust, you've lost all my trust
(Note: Each line is a different rhyme. Crap I can't stop rhyming, maybe I'll just start miming.)
Fellow Dùnedain, gather your arms and fight with me, fight for all you know and you cannot fail.

One i just reminded of on a trip North to my parents.
Oak before Ash, we're in for a splash.
Ash before Oak, we're in for a soak.

Relates to which trees leaves first emerge indicates where we are in for a wet or dry summer. Note that this is English, not sure how it relates to other countries or continents.

i was just reading American Gods, by Neil Gaiman
there was a rhyme in it that reminded me of the Old Forest

Elm, he do brood
And Oak, he do hate,
But the Willow-man goes walking,
If you stays out late.

Raccoon out during the day, best to keep far, far away!
While a bear cub may cause you no fear, remember that where he is, mommy is near!
