How did I miss this?! I love your garden!

If you're interested (and you may already know this) John Seymour's "Forgotten Arts and Crafts" (available used on Amazon and all over) has lots of information all kinds of pre-industrial crafts - but well covered are things like critter fencing, gates, hedgerows, coppicing, withies - all sorts of things that would be perfect for your place. Come to think of it, since Seymour's a product of the same English countryside that gave us the good Professor, I imagine a fair amount of the things in the book are things JRRT imagined as he was describing Hobbiton, Bree, and environs. :)
