Hail, Dunedain
Hail, Dunedain
I'll just be introducing myself here, then.
My name is Mason. Ernildhir and I are old friends, and he first pointed me to these forums, but Mirimaran talked to the administrators about accepting my account. I suppose I'll now tell you a bit about my own interests.
Although, in the style of a Renaissance man, I do earnestly try to practice all three categories (The sciences, the arts, and the physical skills) of manly discipline, I am most naturally a reader. I read a lot and I love it. If you ever wish to discuss classic literature, time-tested music (I'm not much on recent hits), history, Tolkien lore, mythology, or matters of theology or philosophy, I'll happily oblige.
I actually had a list of favorite books and musicians up here, but then Google Chrome weirded out and lost my post, which was too long to repeat. I suppose it's poetically apropos that technology would fail on a Tolkien-themed website, no?
So... is there an initiation? Do I have to climb a tower? Make a leap of faith? Cross the desert? Design a slaughterhouse?

"Though here at journey's end I lie
in darkness buried deep,
beyond all towers strong and high,
beyond all mountains steep,
above all shadows rides the Sun
and Stars for ever dwell:
I will not say the Day is done,
nor bid the Stars farewell."

Re: Hail, Dunedain
Welcome!
We used to have an initiation challenge--bring us ten orc heads on a platter, that sort of thing--but then we got some angry letters from the orc reenactors. Something about us stealing their rubber masks.
And I'm an English teacher in my non-Ranger (muggle? grayscale?) life, so discussion of literature and philosophy is right up my alley. Glad to have you on board!

Welcome to the group.
I would use caution asking questions that could get some "interesting" replies or we could end up with another bear skin rug incident.

Well, there you are! I was beginning to get worried!
You will fit in just fine here, I think. I doubt there is any quiz or challenge that we can come up with that you'd have any problems with, so just settle in.

Welcome! Glad to see you posting.

Kiriana: "strike a pose" is what got me in trouble with the bearskin rug incident. Wallet size pics are still available for a nominal fee.

Welcome, Mason. Enjoy the madness...we all do.
Don't we? Yes, we do.
Don't we? Yes, we do.
Still round the corner there may wait a new road or a secret gate and though I oft have passed them by a day will come at last when I shall take the hidden paths that run west of the moon, east of the sun.

Well this has been quite a collective response. Thank you all for the welcomes.
Mirimaran, I would have posted earlier, but that technological setback I mentioned above dismayed me greatly.
EDIT: Peter Remling, does your signature refer to Sir Robin the Brave?
