Florentine Axe and Hammer Project
Re: Florentine Axe and Hammer Project
Very nice work.
And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.

Not all who are old are wise, not all who are young are fools
Where now is the horse and rider? where is the horn that was blowing?

(Grateful nod of acknowledgement) Thank you all! You are most kind and I am deeply gratified at your approval.

Just saw these, and WOW!!!!!!! You do great work Ringulf!!!!!!
LOVE NOT THE BRIGHT SWORD FOR IT'S SHARPNESS OR THE ARROW FOR IT'S SWIFTNESS, BUT RATHER LOVE THAT WHICH THEY DEFEND
Re: Florentine Axe and Hammer Project
Thanks Gondian, I really enjoyed this pair. the heads were interesting and I enjoyed the carving and staining. I am doing this now to alot of my axe handles. This pair is now the property of Rhys Ap Ieuan.
I was pleased to have met with him up in Jersey to deliver them in person. We had a nice chat and I did a bit of feild repair to the axe before we parted.
I hope he enjoys them as I did and it allows me to go on to yet another project!

And I am! My wife likes them too; as soon as I sort out how, they will have an honored display* in the living room.Ringulf wrote:I hope he enjoys them as I did and it allows me to go on to yet another project!
*Where "displayed" can always be instantly turned into "deployed".

I am picturing a plaque or board that has 4 nails or hooks in a square so you can hang them crossed. The top nail will support the head from the bottom edge out and the haft will be supported by the opposite lower nail as it rests on top of it.
BTW I am very happy you like them and hope they serve you and yours well!

Re: Florentine Axe and Hammer Project
That'd work. I'm thinking of something basically shield-shaped for the base of it.
