Ringulf's a Character Contest

Post by Peter Remling »

Not the Official Title, but it got your attention.

Scott (Ringulf) suggested this next contest. A contest that draws both story writing and visual artistic abilities together with educating the reader about your Ranger Persona. The Ranger's Character Contest

Write a personal history about your ranger persona, as long or short as you like . Then add to it the visual aspect of how your character looks through photos or drawing or painting.Your persona's equipment and belongings can be featured in either the personal history aspect, the visual aspect or both. If someone is assisting you we ask that you include their name as a curtesy there will be no penalization for other assistance.

There will be three catagories: Best Rangers Apprentice (for the new or those lacking resources), Best Background (for the written part) and Best Visual (for the visual aspect).

You will have until Dec 1 2012 at midnight EST to submit your entry. Please include which catagory or catagories you wish to be included in. It is possible to win more than one catagory.

Polls will be conducted at that time for each catagory to pick a winner of that catagory.

Now for the Prizes:

Rangers Apprentice- a mug made specifically for this contest and donated be Ringulf.

Best Visual- a small mace from Todd's Stuff

In the event a winner can not accept their prize due to legal reasons, a suitable substitute will be supplied.

Great prizes, thanks for the chance. I'll give it a shot.
In the darkest part of Sherwoods glade, in the thickest part of the wood, there are those who say, can still be seen, the ghost of Robin Hood.

I am totally doing this! I'm always looking for a way to write about my Ranger self without being too boastful! :) And I could really go for a new mug if you know what I mean... :P

Beautiful Pete!
That looks like a very nicely finished Norse Hawk!
I am Ringulf the Dwarven Woodsman, I craft leather, wood, metal, and clay,
I throw axes, seaxes, and pointy sticks, And I fire my bow through the day.
Come be my ally, lift up your mead! We'll search out our foes and the Eagles we'll feed!

is this meant to be an in character narrative? or an out of character description of how i came up with my character and his gear?

Either are acceptable. The contest is just a way of describing your personna.

Thanks for the reminder guys!
I will get started on this to kinda give an example of what I was thinking,
but let your creativity run wild!

I was also thinking after this was over, if I had a full length portrait picture in a standing or kneeling pose from all who wished to be included I would collect them all together and paint a group portrait of our Ranger Band as if we were all together.

How does that sound? Anyone interested?
