made an axe with you guys in mind

A central place to talk about weapons and armour, as it relates to your kit. This is where you show it of or talk about making it. Discussing the relative merits of types of weapons goes in the WMA section.

made an axe with you guys in mind

Post by Avery P. »

So, as you may have guessed, I dont get around the forums much of late. But that doesnt mean I dont think of you folks while down at the forge. I made this one for two reasons; first being it was fun. Second, although this is fantasy, there are historical pieces that are close and it was a good study on tbe process. Anyway, here she is. 5 1/2" front blade, peak to peak, 2 1/2" on the back. Handle is 24" kiln dried hickory shaped by hand.

Gimli would be right jealous, I'd think. Great work, Avery.

THAT is sweet! I like it very much. I hope I can do nearly as well on the axe project I'll be starting soon.

Like the back blade. Spikes and hammers are so passé.

That axe has so much oomph, it needed a second axe to hold it all.

I think Sean will have some video of me cutting bottles at the meetup with it.

Thaks again, all, the compliments are much appreciated. I've got another in the works that's bigger. Need to finish the polish on it and do the heat treat.

Here's a teaser pic, it's next to a Hanwei full beard axe for reference.
