Where were you stationed?

Post by Mirimaran »

Hi all,

Seeing how many of us are ex/retired military, I thought it would be cool to see where everyone has been. So, I spent 7 years in the Army, did basic and PLDC at Ft. Dix, NJ, my AIT was in Pensacola, Fla, I did two tours in Augsburg, Germany, traveled to England and Scotland, was stationed at Ft. Meade, Md, did a TDY school in San Angelo Tx, and finally San Antonio, Tx. How about the rest of you?

Basic at FT Jackson; AIT at FT Leonard Wood, MO, with a follow on assignment there. Been stationed in Korea, FT Campbell, FT Stewart, FT Jackson (as a drill SGT), Giessen Germany, FT Hood. Started my career 20 years ago with a deployment to the Middle East (Desert Shield/Storm) and, oh joy, we are still here.
Still round the corner there may wait a new road or a secret gate and though I oft have passed them by a day will come at last when I shall take the hidden paths that run west of the moon, east of the sun.

Eep! What a list that would be!

Boot Camp: Parris Island.
Stationed (as opposed to detached); Parris Island, Bangkok Thailand, Camp Lejeune, Norway, Mediterranean Sea, Alexandria VA, Hawaii, Japan, Okinawa, California, Sea of Japan, Korea, and on and on, etc. ad nauseum ad infinitum. Not going to try listing them all, cripes!

Every major continent but two and one of those I have no desire to visit. Around the world four times.

But you thought it, I'll wager! Don't mess with old folks. We get even eventually.

Basic and AIT at Ft Leonardwood, MO (OSUT unit). Wildflecken, Germany. Did the whole Hohenfels thing several times. Desert Shield/Storm. To this day, I have an aversion to large quantities of sand. Spent three of a four-year hitch. Was honorably discharged at the convenience of the Government (or they ran out of money and had to cut the military).
