I picked up a Cold Steel Bowie style Bushman at a local shop yesterday for $10. As I have been yearnin for a spear I decided to make one today. I started with an old staff that I use for a hiking stick and I tapered one end to fit into the socket. Then I decided to "fancy" it up a bit and do some poured pewter ends. The shaft measures about 4.5 ft. in length. I should have taken pics of the pouring process, but everything just kinda happened. I plan on doing more walking sticks with pewter tips, so I will take process pics and do a little tutorial. I really like the look of the Bowie style spear head, it's not really medieval but I think it lends a different feel. What do others think? It's not to modern or "Orcish" is it?

Very nice. Looking forward to the pewter tutorial. You got a great deal on the spearhead, they generally run over twice the price.
Re: walking stick / spear
It kinda looks a tad orcish but i think it looks great... You did a good job

I think it looks great, and the spearhead doubles as a knife, right? Looks like you could do some engraving on that blade too looking forward to the tutorial!

At this point, I think you can call it a glaive; it's pretty cool looking.
