Announcing a new axe line

Post by Avery P. »

Howdy all, been awhile since I've been on the boards. Far too many irons in the fire, quite literally. Which brings me to my point. One of the reasons I haven't been around is that I've been working on a new axe line. One that I can do with relatively quick turnaround. At the moment I'm only going to be offering 3 styles.

I only have one of the styles down to where I can post pictures, it's basically a Type III Wheeler, a historical example can be seen here.

And here is the first of the three that will be offered.

The specs on these will vary a little, but the blade is about 5" and the spine is about 7". The weight will be right around 2#, give or take a little.

I'll be selling them with or without handles, the price for a hafted axe will be $200, without will be $175.

So, what do you guys think?

Beautiful Avery! What haft size (legnth) would you recomend for that axe? do you consider that as a large 1 hander to be used say with shield or a second weapon or a two hander?

Thanks fellas. @Ringulf - I'm doing a 24"-26" haft on them so they can be used for throwing as well as a single hander. I've sent a prototype of this model out for review, I'll post a link when it's up.

Cool, thanks!
Just out of curiosity what are the other styles you plan on offering?

I'm finalizing the design for a large Dane and almost done with the prototype for a Francisca. Also, once I get the process down to as efficient as possible, I may be able to drop the prices a little more. The cool thing about these is that the eye will (more or less) fit a standard axe handle, so the customer can mount whatever length they like with little work to the haft.

Oooh! I will be waiting on those Francescas, I have been looking for a set of those of good quality for a while and fitting a standard handle would make them excellent for my throwing needs.

Looks great....and a fair price.

Howdy fellas, got a bit of bad news. I have to postpone the new line indefinitely; had some problems with the steel supplier which I was willing to work with. But the family recently suffered a loss that will need attention. If/when I'm back under way you folks will be the first to know!
