Hi all,
I want to cover a scabbard with leather, but I want it thin enough so that risers will be visible and distinct. What weight am I shooting for?

1-2 oz will do nicely. The lighter the leather the more distinct and crisp your edges will be. It is a trade off though. The lighter the leather the less durable the covering will be: More prone to scratches and tears.
