New pipe
New pipe
Just wanted to share some pictures of my new pipe that I made over my Christmas vacation.
The bowl is Briar, the stem is made from a shoot of dogwood that I cut just for this purpose 6 months ago. The stem has a 1 inch long piece of wenge inset at its tip for resilience against being grasped by my teeth. The junction where the stem meets the bowl is wrapped tightly with green waxed linen thread due to a small crack in the stem, adds character. The whole piece has been rubbed heavily with beeswax multiple times. Traditional pipes use carnauba wax but I didn’t think that seemed very ME appropriate.

Re: New pipe
Very nicely made

Oh that's lovely! I like the utilitarian simplicity of it. Very charming.

Re: New pipe
Very nice! I love the outward-leaning bowl.
Re: New pipe
Beautiful job sir! Where do you get your Briar?

Oh MAN that thing is gorgeous! Beautiful work! One of these days I'd still love to commission one from you.

Re: New pipe
As a long-time pipe smoker myself I am very impressed with the work and craftsmanship here! Many good bowls to you, Ranger!
Re: New pipe
Lovely! I really like the design here. I want to make a pipe for myself in a similar style. How did you drill the hole for the stem?
