New to the fandom!
Hello one and all. I'm a recent convert to Tolkien stuff. I've never really wanted to dress up as a character before, but the Tolkien world has so much so it that I've decided to pursue a relatively "authentic" Dwarf kit.
I know this is primarily a Ranger-focused site, but I've seen some Dwarven threads, and I hope I'll still find some relative information here.
Looking forward to getting to know you all!

You'll find several members have Dwarf personas and Dwarf inspired kits.

Gimli: It's true you don't see many Dwarf-women. And in fact, they are so alike in voice and appearance, that they are often mistaken for Dwarf-men.
Aragorn: It's the beards.

Thank you! I saw your summer kit and I like it a lot. I live in California, so I need to be mindful about what material I'm using. I saw you have a book with some Dwarven references, is it possible to get scans of those?

Re: New to the fandom!
Your welcome and I'm glad you like my kit
The book I referenced in the summer kit thread is the WETA publication ''Cloaks and daggers'' and it does have quite a lot of dwarven design from the movies, however the summer kit is mostly my own creation and loosely inspired by historic viking styles, the only thing that's actually taken from that book is the embroidery and a bit of aesthetics. Even in the descriptions in the books (which speak of woollen cloaks and hoods) dwarves never seem to be geared for hot weather.
I would be happy to send you scans of pages but be warned that I don't think my PM in-box works so I'm not quite sure how to send them?
[EDIT: I know I can send PM's so I could PM you my e-mail, you would have to send something to that so I can reply with the scans, let me know if you wan't to go ahead]
Another good place to look for inspiration is Ringulf's DeviantArt gallery, a lot of his dwarven stuff is inspired by Norse studies where Tolkien got some of his inspiration:

And I almost forgot, check out the Middle Earth Reenactment Society news letter winter 2018-19, focusing on dwarves, it's to be found here if you haven't already seen it:
