Merry Christmas!!! (2021)
Merry Christmas all! I hope you're all cozy with family and friends and having a wonderful wonderful Christmas!
I wanted to show the most wonderful thing one of my aunts gifted me this year - my gramma's cookbook that came down through her family since apparently around 1906!
It is so fun.
Also, this wonderful hobbity copper cookpot from Westminster Forge - just the (slightly anachronistic) thing I'd expect to see at Crickhollow.
I don't think I'll create a second persona or anything, but I am absolutely going to cook up a nice hobbity meal at the hearth this winter. Surely gramma's cookbook will have some grand ideas.

Merry Christmas
Elleth, that cookbook and pot look amazing I haven't managed to get anything ranger-ish from family this Christmas, but I have got a nice new (modern) bush-craft knife and a macro lens for my camera

Gimli: It's true you don't see many Dwarf-women. And in fact, they are so alike in voice and appearance, that they are often mistaken for Dwarf-men.
Aragorn: It's the beards.

Sorry I had no time to comment until now - the silly season really takes it out of me but I wish you all Happy holidays, Xmas, new year and all of the days in between.
Congratulations Elleth, heirloom recipes are true treasures.
Coming from an eastern European background the whole household revolves around preparing and sharing meals. There was one thing which our family was particularly known for - sarma (the Serbian version of a stuffed cabbage roll) and every Slava, be it our own or another families Nan would spend days making them to share.
It was YEARS before I was considered a good enough cook to be trusted with the recipe which is a cobbled together hodgepodge of 'little bit this, little bit that' I lament that we had no such cookbooks and so all of our recipes are memory/taste based (which drives my wife nuts)

But the white fury of the Northmen burned the hotter, and more skilled was their knighthood with long spears and bitter. Fewer were they but they clove through the Southrons like a fire-bolt in a forest.

A bit late here but I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas! I love that cookbook and cookpot Elleth! Let us know if any of those recipes are a real winner. I'd love to make a meal from 1906.
