Greetings from Rurik

Post by Rurik of Esgaroth »

Rurik of Esgaroth, at your service.
I'm guessing the Pony is the place to introduce myself. A fan of The Hobbit and The Lord Of The Rings for some 55+ years, ever since I read the first chapter in a childrens edition. Not a Middle Earth expert by any means - I did read The Silmarillion and Unfinished Tales many years ago, but that's the extent of my knowledge.
I've also watched the Peter Jackson adaptations (with mixed views).
I have been involved in 15th century historical reenactment and living history, but had to give that up, being overweight and unfit. But in retirement and with a new and energetic dog to get me out of the house, hopefully this is changing. At 67, I don't think a Ranger persona would fit, but I have plans.
In the meantime, here I am, having found a home for like minded people.

Welcome! And hey - never say never! Aragorn was in his 80’s and still considered the greatest hunter the world had ever seen, after all! ;D

I was about to say that, but looks like Manv beat me too it! He's right though
Gimli: It's true you don't see many Dwarf-women. And in fact, they are so alike in voice and appearance, that they are often mistaken for Dwarf-men.
Aragorn: It's the beards.

Greetings Rurik, Well met.

I'm fat and fiftyish, so I portray a grumpy dwarf* in his second century. Lots of wiggleroom for personas and loads of help, advice and information on here.

*Yes, I know "Gumpy Dwarf" is a tautology. :P

Mae govannen, Rurik! May your stay be long and fruitful!

I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness, nor the warrior for his glory; I only love that which they defend.

Welcome to the forums Rurik, when you have a moment share a picture of your canine companion?

But the white fury of the Northmen burned the hotter, and more skilled was their knighthood with long spears and bitter. Fewer were they but they clove through the Southrons like a fire-bolt in a forest.

Welcome Ranger. May our paths cross and we can share stories from our adventures.
Life is a great adventure; if I live to be 10,000 years old, it won't be enough.
