Alright, Tinker's officially sold. And I won't be able to pay attention at work today. Like a little kid at christmas. Of course, this presents a whole new set of problems. After I finish fitting a guard, handle, and pommel to this thing...I have to make another scabbard. One that isn't 3" long.

THIS is why reenactment will send me to the poorhouse. Getting stuff cheap winds up costing quite a bit. Sneaky how that works, eh?

The Tinker arrived today, and she's gorgeous. Feels lightning fast. Shipped fast and arrived in great packaging!

Now the quest for fittings begins! I've thought about making my own guard and pommel, but I just don't think that I have the level of craftsmanship (nor tools) required just yet. Then gain...well, we'll see.

Greg, find out if there is someone around you who is willing to teach you to do lost wax casting. A pound of bronze casting beads doesn't cost that much. The person may already have all of the wax and the tools/equipment you need to cast it.

Will do. I'm planning on asking my father-in-law, a welder, if he knows anyone who does casting. My other option is, at the moment, having a go at grinding a pommel out of a 2" thick steel rod that I have here. I've got 3' to work with, so I can go at it for a LONG time, making mistakes as I go, until I've got it right, at least... ;)

I think I am going to look into that lost wax casting. A friend is setting up a forge (he better finish soon) and he thinks he can copy all the blades I have so If I can cast the other parts I could get a nice collection goin plus maybe make a few bucks for other projects.
