Testing new camera

A central place to talk about weapons and armour, as it relates to your kit. This is where you show it of or talk about making it. Discussing the relative merits of types of weapons goes in the WMA section.

Testing new camera

Post by Peter Remling »

Got a new camera 2 weeks ago and decided to check out some of the features. It's the Canon EOS T3 Rebel. I've wanted a new digital for several years.

The two axes on the lower right in the axes pics are both by Avery.

Where better to post pics than here.

Nice image quality. Assuming that was after your hosting site reduced the size...that's very crisp. Cool beans!

Very nice, DSLRs are serious kit. The glass gets expensive quickly, though it's like anything else - cheap, fast, good, pick two.

I seen a couple in each set that I wish I had in my gear.

I see the best and my favorite sword of all time (bottom sword second pic) the windlass fantasy viking.

Pete, you jerk.

You went and picked up a Malatesta and didn't write a review? Shame on you.

Beautiful swords you've got there. Am I right when I say that the ones with a blood run are earlier period, an the more solid ones are later? or is it the other way round?

Actually this ones second hand and was a review sword for SBG. I'll see if I can find it and post it here.

My personal impression is that it's beautifully made but wayyy too light. Great for unarmored opponents but I like more heft. It's a keeper anyway along with the Atrim 1503, as they would be for my wife and daughter.

Neither actually, the fuller was used for both earlier and later periods. A better way to determine earlier or later periods, without useing Oakshott's typography would be by looking at the point.

Nothing is set in stone but generally speaking, later swords had a more pronounced point. This was to penetrate between the joints of your armor.

the above link is to MyArmoury feature page, just check out the right hand column for info on some on the sword types.

Cheers Pete, I'd been wondering about that for some time, and just reading through some stuff over at my-amoury, I realize yet again: Swords are SO COOL!

I just read that review of the Malatesta. My goodness I think I am now resolute to become a sword nerd. And I WANT THAT SWORD NOW. I'm being honest when I say that I am gonna work hard for the money to get a proper sword.

When he says 'as the point seems to drift' when he thrusts, what does that mean?
