Ceadmon/Ringulf Costrel project

A lot of reenactment level work is about learning appropriate historical crafts and skills. This board is for all general skills that don't have their own forum.

OK last few pictures on the first costrel. I have finished the sewing and staining given it a good wax and buff and of course cut the strap slits so that they are pulling in the right direction.

I will post the tooling and finnished products on the other two, before I send them out.

Not all the stitching is complete right now it is forming around the coffee can and I have the stopper burried in the neck to take shape.

I was trying to match the color on both but the second has taken more of a yellowish cast. (Jack let me know if that is a big deal for you it looks cool to me unless you want them all to match, may just be another coat and polish needed.)

Sorry it seems the perameters for picture size may have been changed on the site, so these may not have the same amount of detail that the rest of the thread has. (must have missed that memo! )

Very, very cool. Bummer about the pic size though. I'd love to see more detail on the figure to the right (the one with the bow).

Yeah I am not sure why, but as you can see the pics are much smaller than usual and when I was putting them on from Photbucket the site was telling me that it would not accept any larger than 500 by 500 pixels. (about half of what I normaly use.) Any moderators have any info on this, was it a recent change? Or is my computer doing somthing fishy as usual? :?

I'm not sure Scott but, why don't you just link us to the pics on your album. We'll be able to get a much larger view.

ok I downloaded one more picture that is a bit closer shot of the figures, these were taken last week the costrel is already stitched up top so new pics will be coming.

I actually just found out today that that was an option and found out how to do it when I was experimenting with the photobucket albums. They are always changing the format and I have a hard time keeping up.
I also wanted to keep the continuety of the thread, but folks are welcome to look at the Photobucket site and the many pics of projects that don't always make it to the forums. this is the link:

VERY nice work!

I always have enjoyed working with leather...
