Where were you in those final days?

I was reading my Atlas of Middle Earth. In the section, Battles in the North, I thought how many battles were happening around the same time. Where would you want make your stand against the Enemy in March of T.A. 3019?

Rivenvale? Did you mean Rivendell?

I'm an orc. Of course, I meant Rivendell. Rivenvale is our local SCA group and I subconsciously type it instead of Rivendell. Please forgive me, and worse, I cannot see how to edit the poll options, so we're stuck with my error.

it is a valid question, as we are left with those 30 Rangers who rode with Halbarad (all that could be gathered in haste) so that means that the rest were somewhere far enough away that they could not be gathered in time for the trip to find Aragorn. Since evil Men were in the Shire, that means that the Rangers had either abandoned their watch of the Shire or were killed off, which I find unlikely, most likely, to me, that somewhere to the North, perhaps even to Carn Dum a final evil was unleashed upon the North, and for that they knew that their time had come, the time of the last Sons of Arnor to battle their ancient foe one last time before the Age had passed. Something to think about, to be sure...

Rivendell; I'm a northern gal and defending the North would be my preference. That and I'm former Marine and we don't like giving up turf we already have. What better place to defend than the Last Homely House?

I chose Dale/Erebor. If all of you are running off elsewhere, I figured the free peoples in Dale needed some attention too. The terrain suits me, and I figure the Elves can handle themselves well enough.

I chose Lorien for the beautiy and the mystery of the place. I would want to preserve such a different place as Lorien.

Likewise Beornmann, you'll find me (if I want you to^^) on a flet somewhere around where the silverlode meets the Anduin, keeping a watchful eye upon the evil en-route from Dol Guldur.

I chose Rivendell. I'd feel obligation to those who fostered our chieftan when he was a lad. And besides, I was on a recon run and didn't get Halbarad's message until the 30 had already left...

I chose Mirkwood. It offers a larger area and fits my preferred tactical style better. And it's also close enough (with a bit of travel...) to provide support to Lorien or Dale, if needed.

But, dang, my feet are gonna hurt...

I'd say Rivendell or Mirkwood, mostly because the elves of those two kingdoms were such strong allies with the men of the north.
Of course, so were the Galadrim, but let's face it; with the power of the Lady on their side it would take a Maiar to really break through their lines.

I chose Erebor.

I've always been a kindred spirit to the dwarves.

I also chose Erebor; at that time I would have been working in the Far East, in Rhun and Erebor would be the nearest place for me to go. That and the fact that I, too, love dwarves.

By the gates of Erebor I too would make my stand.
If only for the fact that my people would make a stand there as well and I am quite familiar with the territory.
