Anyone up for a day hike in central/southern Indiana (Brown County)? I'm itching for doing a hike in Ranger gear and would like to get some photos. My schedule is pretty flexible in terms of weekdays or weekends.

So sorry we haven't connected on this yet. Newborn = 99% of my time...we WILL make this happen.

I figured as much. Congrats on the new baby. Try not to fall asleep standing up.

The weather in central Indiana for the next few weeks is supposed to be warm in the day, cool at nights and little to no precipitation. I've got a super flexible schedule. Anyone up for a day hike to get some pics in gear?

I'm thinking meeting at the Tecumseh trailhead in morgan-monroe state park, at the nature center. Thoughts?

When? Tuesdays and Thursdays are out until my mother-in-law gets back in town, after Oct. 4.

They work for me as well.

What about fellow Rangers in the area? What do we need to do to convince folks to come?

I would love to if possible. I work four ten hour days and am usually off Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. I do however have a wife who is 7 weeks pregnant, so it will be subject to how she feels.

I'll have one, possibly two young local tag-alongs. One of them's the drummer in my little irish group, so we'll have a tune or two, if you folks require entertainment to attend.

Bear in mind, this probably won't be an overnighter...just wanted to throw that out for folks that might be traveling a bit. I can't take a night away from the family right now...young one's up too much.

I'll have my five year old with me (or simply have a Hobbit companion- you decide).

I suspect this is going to be a nice and easy day hike, so Rangers in the area who have non-Rangery Middle-Earth fans, this could be a good time to drag someone along for a nice day in the country.

That'd be the plan.

Relatively easy terrain, with a cool massive rock overhang as our destination a fair hike in; this is the first leg of the route Odigan and I took last October.

Hokay, so my wife and the two little ones are thinking of coming along this time, so the terrain mentioned before might be a little bit rough/harsh for their coming along. If the goal of this is to get in the woods, not necessarily cover lots of ground, but take some fun photos, have a fire and a few tunes, then I have a few more accessible alternatives, close by to Nashville.

How're things looking for, say, Saturday afternoon, October 11th?

Gives us two weeks' lead time, and gives me a chance to hurry up and finish Kaira's first garb.

October 11 works for me. I think it would be my son and me. Let's see if we can get some others from nearby states as well.
