Dramborleg?

A central place to talk about weapons and armour, as it relates to your kit. This is where you show it of or talk about making it. Discussing the relative merits of types of weapons goes in the WMA section.

Dramborleg?

Post by Ursus »

Here is the newest project to come my bench lately. Some time ago I acquired one of the new model cold steel dane axes. I loved the shape of it, but decided the socket was to over built to be historical. After I removed much of the bulk with my belt sander I decided to step it up a notch. I had the hammer head off of an old cold steel pollaxe laying around for years and decided to weld it to the dane axe. Here is the result having cleaned up the weld and begun mounting the head. The helve is estimated be around 100 year old ash and comes from a piece of bulk timber that I found when helping tear down an old barn last summer. As is tradition with me I name all my weapons in the Welsh language and inscribe it in ogham. So without further delay I present my battle axe Annwyl which in English means Darling.

That is a nice conversion my Brother! The poll really gives it a more Arnorian feel and certainly gives it another way of crushing your enemies! The Helve is a bit shorter than the one that came with it, do you have any designs on the old one? I have been looking for one I could shorten for a Genja adaptation at about 107 cm long. If so, shoot me a pm with what you might want for it. I need another project!

Thank you, it is rapidly becoming my second favorite weapon in my collection. It actually works really well for pollaxe techniques. Sadly the old helve has already been repurposed for another project.
