I remember reading that post when it first appeared. I was impressed with what Eric did to the blade for you. I am looking forward to what Ernie comes up with to match the blade. It should be a near perfect Ranger sword would be my guess.

I'm not sure it'll be 'near-perfect', as nice as that would be *chuckle*...but I'm sure it'll be perfect for my needs.

I am guessing that your sword has got to be close to being finished at this point Greg. I base this off of the fact that I received pictures of my nearing completion J.S. fullered dagger blade from Ernie in the wee hours this morning.

Mine is probably nearing that stage in the polish...I have a photo of the rough-milled hilt fully assembled but not yet peened in my inbox that I'm saving for a rainy day. You'll probably get yours first, though, because my order includes a few chapes, so the waiting game continues.
Congrats on a stunning piece! The rear bolster/'pommel' catches my eye the most. Lovely design, and, of course, execution.
Seeing that, I am reminded of an elvish dagger that was given to Turin as a lad which he re-gifted against his father's wishes. Very elvish, but also feels first-agey to me.

Thank you Peter and Greg.
Ernie certainly does great work. I am really looking forward to getting this back from him.
Greg, I am looking forward to seeing your finished sword.
When I first started talking with Ernie my two ideas were for a ME Ranger weapon or something from my first and still greatest love in fantasy, Conan. I liked the design he came up for this dagger as a Hyborian dagger but this version won out. I do prefer the more organic vision he had for this.

The dagger arrived on Tuesday but alas I was not able to examine it until last night. All I can say is that I am beyond impressed! Ernie is a true artisan when it comes to working with steel. The investment in this blade was well worth every penny. If you have the chance I highly recommend having Ernie make something for you.
He fit and finish are perfect and exactly how I was hoping it would turn out. The blade is wickedly sharp as well.
The overall length on this is 14-1/2" or 368.3 mm for the metrically minded.
This is a weapon that could be used for utility work around the camp, or dispatching orc sentries in the night!

Thank you Greg.
I sent the deposit in on December 17th so it was just under 10 months all told.
